Friday May 9th * Gibson Brothers

From their Webpage: www.gibsonbrothers.com

From the front porch of the farm house they grew up in outside the town of Ellenburg Depot, New York.

In the early 1990s, they formed a bluegrass band with Eric on banjo, Leigh on guitar, Junior Barber on dobro, and Junior’s son, Mike, on bass. Mike is still with them and is regarded as a third brother.

In the coming years they recorded three well-received albums and won the 1998 IBMA Emerging Artist of the Year award. In 2005, the brothers signed with Sugar Hill Records. Their first release with the label, Bona Fide, went to #1 on the Bluegrass Unlimited album chart and placed high on the Americana and Billboard charts as well. Two more releases followed -- Long Way Back Home and Red Letter Day. These albums solidified the brothers’ reputation as singers, players, and songwriters.....

Started in 2005, Boogie Matrix Mechanism released their debut album "Glass Candy" over Halloween 2006. They give the audience an eclectic mix of Jam psychedelic, hip hop, blues, reggae, funk n more. This seven piece band gives the audience not just funked out grooves or trippy space, but also some strong messages through the lyrics and entertaining opportunities through crowd participation. Out of Toledo, OH this jam band is bringing a positive vibe with an original mix of styles that few if any are doing today.

Half-Pint Jones * Thursday, May 1st

Photobucket

From their Myspace Page:

In 2005, after Hurricane Katrina, saxophonist Chris Olivier found himself uprooted from New Orleans and relocated to Northern Indiana. He soon realized his need to share his New Orleans musical roots with the South Bend area and actively pursued finding the right blend of musicians; quickly discovered in Mark Gamble (trumpet), Steve Krojniewski (drums), Justin Ross (guitar & vocals), and Jayson Sites (bass).

Half-Pint Jones recently finished recording their first album, entitled “Trilogy of Patches and Olaf”, which will be released in mid-July. The songs in this album have merged into a new sound for the group, due to the diverse musical influences that each and every member bring to the table.

“I feel the album is unique because of all the experiences we, as individuals, have had,” adds drummer Steve Krojniewski. “From marriage, to fatherhood, to losing parents, to fleeing home, to growing up and letting our true selves out—everything that has lead us to this point in our lives, has made Trilogy the incredible record it has become.”

Half-Pint Jones firmly stands by the statement that they do not fit into any one category of music—and that’s perfectly fine with them. Their music is a mixture of so many things; jam band, jazz, latin, reggae, rock, New Orleans funk. What brings it all together are the feel-good rhythms, lyrics with a message, unconventional horn lines and incredible story-telling solos.

From their Myspace Page:

Formed in 1999, ROOTS OF CREATION have persevered by creating great original music and working hard. In the past 2 years they have taken things seriously and started their own record label, toured constantly, released two full-length studio albums, signed with In The Pocket Artists booking agency and Leeway's Home Grown Music Network, got world wide record distribution, and managed themselves all on their own without major label support.

Their New CD: RISE UP Features SPECIAL GUESTS: Sam Kininger (Soulive), Gordon Stone (Phish, Moe, Strangefolk), and C-Money from Slightly Stoopid (...formally of John Browns Body)!

Recorded, mixed, and co-produced by Pete "Boardz" Peloquin (O.A.R., Gov't Mule, Drop Kick Murphys) @ Studio Metronome (www.studiometronome.com).

Saturday April 26th * Healing Sixes

Photobucket

From their Myspace Page:

GREAT ROCK SONGS WITH A BLUESY EDGE. HEALING SIXES COMBINE ELEMENTS OF LEGENDARY ARTISTS LIKE LED ZEPPELIN, THE BEATLES AND OTIS REDDING - WITH THE MODERN SENSIBILITIES OF AUDIO SLAVE, THE BLACK CROWES, AND JEFF BUCKLEY. IN 2000, HEALING SIXES RELEASED THEIR FIRST CD "MAPLE", AND GAINED MUCH ATTENTION BY BRINGING IN JASON BONHAM (SON OF LED ZEPPELIN DRUMMER JOHN BONHAM). JASON WAS HEALING SIXES' DRUMMER FOR FOUR YEARS. HEALING SIXES' SECOND CD "ENORMOSOUND" WAS RELEASED WITH THE HELP OF KEVIN "CAVEMAN" SHIRLEY (BLACK CROWES, AEROSMITH). KEVIN PRODUCED "ENORMOSOUND" TO MUCH CRITICAL ACCLAIM. "ENORMOSOUND" IS AVAILABLE IN EUROPE AND CANADA THROUGH CORAZONG RECORDS. MUCH OF HEALING SIXES APPEAL HAS BEEN THEIR VOCALIST DOUG HENTHORN. DOUG'S DRAWN THE SPOTLIGHT AS A GUEST VOCALIST ON JOE BONAMASSA'S LATEST RECORDING 'YOU AND ME' WHICH SPENT THREE WEEKS AT NUMBER ONE ON THE BILLBOARD BLUES CHARTS. ALWAYS PUTTING THE EMPHASIS ON THE SONG, HEALING SIXES' MUSIC IS STRONG, VIBRANT, AND NEVER FORMULATED. THE INCREDIBLE TALENT OF ALL FOUR OF IT'S MEMBERS COMBINED WITH YEARS OF ROAD EXPERIENCE (PLAYING EVERYWHERE FROM BB KINGS IN MANHATTAN AND CHICAGO HOUSE OF BLUES TO CABO WABO IN MEXICO AND THE HARD ROCK IN TORONTO) MAKES THE HEALING SIXES EXPERIENCE SIMPLY RIVETING.
